Project description:
In this project we kept the same UN country as in our last conference but this time we debated on nuclear non-proliferation. In my speech I talked about having peace among the countries and getting rid of nuclear weapons because I was speaking as Peru. In our first conference we debated about the Venezuelan refugee crisis.
Project reflection:International Diplomacy: After doing this project I feel much more confident in my knowledge about the UN. The way the conferences are held they let people speak for their country's perspective even if they aren’t important to the situation. I think the difference between our conferences and the real ones is that we are willing to compromise and work together to better our planet but in the real conferences the countries aren’t as willing to change their perspective on a situation. I think we could get a lot farther solving global issues if the countries would be willing to compromise more.

Growth: In the last conference I knew what I needed to know but in my resolution, speech, and amendment it didn’t show that I knew a lot about the topic. I feel like after this conference my speech was more “powerful” and “confident” then it was in the first conference. Although my amendment bombed because I wasn’t paying enough attention to the resolution our amendment was going on I still think I did a solid job at keeping myself calm enough to speak clearly.
Knowledge: The skill I got from this project was more confidence when I speak and the thing I’ll carry from here on is the knowledge about the UN and different opinions on how the UN should be taking care of situations. I feel like in this conference I was able to talk more clearly and I didn’t feel as frantic when I was talking, but in the first conference my voice was quiet and not confident. After doing research on how the UN handles major issues like these has made my opinions change which will most likely will stay with me forever other then they may change a little bit. I’m glad we did this project. I learned a lot from it.
Refinement: If I could do this project again I think I would dig deeper into the allies I have and what we all could do to help nuclear disarmament. I feel like I was on the surface of the issue because Peru doesn’t have nuclear weapons they don’t have much power. I could have made more of a solution then “encouraging other countries to disarm”. Also my amendment was planned last second and it ended up coinciding with the original resolution and I wish I could re-do that entire amendment. I would make an amendment on resolution 2C about taking off the refurbishing weapons and make a limit for the weapons.
